Kovri was a lightweight and security-focused router written in C++ that was developed within The Monero Project. Kovri aimed to fully integrate within the Monero network, with aims to join development resources. The router aims to serve primarily for Monero, unlike what is seen in I2Pd or the native official router for I2P. Like I2Pd, it aims to reduce "excess bloat"" while retaining options for extra features. [1]

Monero Integration

As mentioned, the primary objective of Kovri was to allow Monero to function with I2P. It was suggested as a superior alternative to the ways Monero can function through Tor (e.g. hosting of RPCs). Tor is critiqued to be centralized and vulnerable to several spheres of influences that could possibly compromise the operation of it and thus the function of Monero. Where Kovri comes in is to serve the same ideal of anonymity while remaining secure with less points of failure. [2]

Officially, Albeit recognized, Kovri integration has not been planned and is only proposed. [3]As of now, the project is considered abandoned.
