I think we should simplify the site.

When I added "Gillis' Bookmarks" to what was then a private mediawiki about a decade ago, it was still simply structured so that if in doubt, one person alone could do the maintenance. Gradually, people came along, added reams of "address helper" links, and eventually put everything into a table form, including color highlighting. Even at that time, I was concerned about the enormous administrative overhead involved. The source code is now so confusing that no one wants to touch it anymore. In addition, this wiki belongs to a publicly known person and is part of the I2P project, so more caution is needed when adding external links.

Therefore I suggest to do without all "Address Helper" links. Because if eepsites are not in the address books issued by the project, then this has a good reason. In the meantime there are enough address books and addresses are looked up automatically, the situation compared to back then has improved a lot. The same is true for B32 links, they should be used sparingly and only when eepsites have name conflicts.

Then the retention of the current table form should be considered. The alignment of the tables is based on the content and the overall picture is accordingly crooked and skewed. In the source code the inclined writer finds a myriad of confusing table strokes and has to count with his fingers at which position he has to edit. In addition, the table is a very stiff tool out of consideration for the other tables.

I have in mind a very simple and easy to maintain system:

Headline from readable address.extension (and in brackets the name of the web offer). This would also give us an anchor (wiki link) per entry.
- In the body of the text, the actual link is at the beginning "followed by the self-description of the web offer." Any free annotations made by the editor. Finally, the online date when the web offering was last visited. (And should one day the wiki owner agree to the use of graphics, there's room for that too).

How do you see it, do you like the current shape or do you see it similar to me?

Wikis: an example

Each entry can be edited and linked individually, both by its title and id.

wiki.i2p-projekt.i2p (I2P Wiki)

  • wiki.i2p-projekt.i2p “this should be a central instance for user2user help inside the I2P network.” Anyone can join after registration. A valid e-mail address is required for registration, it is available free of charge through the project at [wiki link to Postman-HQ]. (lv: 2023-01-31)

fantasy-wiki.i2p (Your Fantasy World)

  • fantasy-wiki.i2p “We live in a make-believe world. Come to us!” Funny people with great costumes come up with fantastic stories. (lv: 2023-01-31)
  • fantasy-wiki2.i2p Another address that leads to the destination. (lv: 2023-01-31)

Well to me the current state is good, although the addresshelper links make it hard to move around the edit page so they could be moved somewhere else. But dumping B32s too is a bit too much, since there might be times when I don't/can't know a eepsite yet, like, your example of, um, "fantasy-wiki", not, being registered, at reg/stats/notbob.i2p, therefore, i don't, um, know it's destination, so i can't reach it, which kind of, drops your argument, of, um, eliminating b32s...
And having the page as category tables, and tags to the categories, makes it easy to navigate through. Sure, the background-color parts are kind of hard to write each time, but to me it doesn't justify full removal. And the template of a table is at the top as a comment for easy Ctrl+C/V-ing. Having all links with their info getting stacked on one line makes it kind of a wall of text. A user can press Ctrl+F (or equivalent key for search) and type their eepsite to see if it's here, right?

I would say, if a change is required, keep this current format, keeping the B32s, while dumping the addresshelpers to somewhere (a seperate page or trash).
(btw ~~~~ signature tags and prefixing the new talk with enough :s helps to see who's talking without peering over to the talk page history)
EDIT: the fantasy-wiki was an example, right? (darn) Still, if one actually existed, then a B32 is still required.
