I'm going to try to keep this as short and simple as possible. I have to be somewhat general to care-take Linux,Mac, AND Windows users. There is a lot of possibles for errors and something to go wrong (probably why everyone was having much trouble before). I'll be more than happy to help anyone who wants to connect to my server as well as to setup your own server. - [[TronDev|TronDev]] (Find me in IRC #salt)

First, you'll need to know what we are working with...

* Mumble [http://mumble.sourceforge.net/ http://mumble.sourceforge.net/]

Time for the cake to hit the oven, here is where you (flame monsters of the oven) start getting into action. Don't worry though! This shouldn't take long, it will just LOOK long. Keep focused, and we will be on VoIP->I2P SOON! Time to pack up that battle suit, because we're moving out...

First thing is first, make sure you have I2P installed and running. If not, slap yo' mama because she can't believe what she's hearing!

Second, download and install Mumble and go through the voice setup. If you need more help, let me know and I'll add more information here.

Mumble is an open-source Voice-over-IP (VoIP) application, based on a client-server approach.

Usage on I2P

To use Mumble on I2P, you need to select a Mumble server. You can find some on Mumble servers page. Then do the following steps:

  • Create a standard tunnel for:
    • Name: something like "Mumble tunnel"
    • Address: 127.0.0.1
    • Port: Anything you like
    • Destination: The address of the server you selected, either the Base32 or the normal domain.
    • Auto-start: If you want to, then check.
    • Tunnel Counts: You can select around ~4 inbound/outbound tunnels for a good performance.
      • If possible, you can also drop the hop counts to 1-2 hops. Beware that this will make you less anonymous.
  • (On tunnel startups) Wait for the tunnel to be built.
  • Connect your Mumble client to the address and port you selected.
