The secure password generator (password.i2p) is based on the strong cryptography and does not use JavaScript.

Technology of password generation

It is said on the site: password strength is not a subjective idea, but a strict scientific term.

By information on the site, the generator is based on WPISAAC (Indirection, Shift, Accumulate, Add and Count), cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator and a stream cipher[1].

Available settings

An user can choose, what characters to be contained in the generated password. Four groups of characters are available for choice:

  • lower case Latin letters,
  • upper case Latin letters,
  • digits,
  • punctuation and special signs

(it is possible to choose some of the four groups or all of them).

It is possible to enable an option letting the generated password to begin and end with a majuscule letter. It is possible to choose password length. An user can save a chosen settings in a cookie (by default the use of cookie is off).

The site has a help page consisting of three sections and describing each of the available settings[2].

Security of the site for users

Unlike many other online password generators, the secure password generator does not use browser scripts in WPJavaScript and other languages[1].

The secure password generator gives to the user an option to save changed settings in a cookie. By default this option is off, the site does not enable it by itself and does not enforce users to enable it. The site's interface lets user to delete that cookie as easy as it was set (in two clicks, without a walk through browser settings[2].

The site is available not only in I2P, but also in Tor (.onion) and in clearnet[1]. The site at both its darknet addresses (.i2p and .onion) does not contain counters, tracking and third-party cookies and other spying parts. The site at its clearnet address is available through WPCloudflare (the site honestly warns about it)[1].

Other features

Size of each of the site's pages is just few kilobytes. Neither pictures nor HTML tables are used. The site uses WPcascading style sheets.

The site works seamlessly not only in modern graphical browsers (including WPFirefox and based on it WPGNU IceCat and WPPale Moon, as well as the Chromium based browsers Iridium and Vivaldi), but also in WPtext-based web browsers (such as WPLynx).

The service is completely gratis (voluntary donations are accepted).

The site code conforms to the specifications about HTML[3][4][5][6][7] and CSS[8][9][10][11][12].
